Prime Minister Narendra Modi held back-to-back high-level conversations with Emmanuel Macron and Donald Trump amid escalating tensions in West Asia, with a sharp focus on the Strait of Hormuz crisis.
During his call with Macron, both leaders stressed the urgent need to restore safety and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit route. They also agreed to continue close cooperation to promote peace and stability in the region.

In a separate 40-minute conversation with Trump, Modi reviewed bilateral ties and discussed the evolving situation in West Asia. Both leaders emphasized the importance of keeping the Strait open and secure, underlining its significance for global trade and energy supply.
The diplomatic outreach comes as the Hormuz region faces heightened instability due to ongoing conflict, impacting global shipping and oil markets. With nearly 40% of India’s crude oil imports passing through the strait, ensuring its security remains a top priority for New Delhi.
These conversations highlight India’s active diplomatic role in addressing global crises and safeguarding economic interests amid geopolitical uncertainty.
