Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the ongoing conflict in West Asia has created a serious situation over the past month, affecting several countries.

In his 132nd episode of Mann Ki Baat, he expressed gratitude to Gulf nations for supporting nearly 10 million Indians living in the region. He acknowledged that these countries have provided essential assistance and facilities to Indian citizens during the crisis. India has consistently raised concerns about the safety of its large diaspora in the Gulf amid the ongoing tensions.
“A major conflict has been underway for the past month. I sincerely thank the Gulf countries for extending all necessary support to around 10 million Indians residing there,” Modi said.
The prime minister also urged citizens to remain united and avoid misinformation during this period. He warned against rumors and politically motivated comments that could harm the country, emphasizing the importance of staying calm and trusting only official information.
“Those indulging in politics should stop, and those spreading rumors are causing serious damage to the nation. People should rely only on government-provided information,” he added.
The conflict involving Iran began on February 28 following US-Israel strikes known as Operation Epic Fury and has now continued for a month. In response, Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, leading to disruptions in global oil supply.
Modi also stressed the importance of maintaining good health. He encouraged people to reduce sugar consumption and cut down edible oil intake by 10 percent.
“I have always emphasized fitness. With less than 100 days left for International Day of Yoga, I urge everyone to take care of their health. Many of you noticed my response to Instagram creator Yuvraj Dua, who asked me to encourage his father to reduce sugar intake. I’m glad it made a difference. I request all of you to reduce sugar intake and also cut down cooking oil by 10%. These small steps can help prevent obesity and lifestyle-related diseases,” he said.
Additionally, during Mann Ki Baat, the prime minister asked citizens to share information about old manuscripts for proper documentation and preservation.
“If you possess or know about any manuscripts, please upload their images on the Gyan Bharatam App. Each submission is being verified before being recorded. I am happy that thousands of manuscripts have already been shared,” he said.
