VinFast is gearing up for a major scale-up in India, confirming plans to expand its Tamil Nadu manufacturing facility to include production lines for electric buses and electric two-wheelers. This development marks a strategic deepening of the Vietnamese EV maker’s footprint in India, following its earlier commitment to invest in the state.

The expanded facility will enable VinFast to cater to India’s fast-growing electric mobility market by offering a wider range of sustainable transportation solutions. By introducing electric buses, the company aims to support India’s clean public transport initiatives, while the addition of electric scooters and motorcycles targets the country’s massive two-wheeler segment, one of the largest in the world.
Tamil Nadu was chosen for its strong automotive supply chain, skilled workforce, and export-friendly port infrastructure, making it a natural base for VinFast’s global ambitions. The state government’s proactive EV policies and manufacturing incentives also played a key role in the company’s decision to deepen its investment.
With this expansion, VinFast is positioning itself not only as a consumer EV brand but as a key player in India’s broader electric mobility ecosystem, supporting both domestic demand and export opportunities. The move underscores India’s rising importance in global EV manufacturing and signals significant job creation and technology transfer to the region.
