The Indian Army has signed a deal with Larsen & Toubro to produce the BvS10 Sindhu, an India-specific version of the BvS10 all-terrain armoured vehicle. The programme supports India’s defence self-reliance goals under Make in India.
Production Plan
The vehicles will be built at L&T’s Armoured Systems Complex in Hazira. BAE Systems Hägglunds, which developed the original BvS10 platform, will provide design and technical support under a licensing and technology transfer model. The agreement also includes full logistics support for deployment, maintenance and long-term sustainment.

Adapted for Indian Terrain
The Sindhu variant is customised for India’s extreme conditions, from high-altitude snowfields to deserts, marshlands and coastal zones. It is amphibious and designed to handle floods and difficult terrain. During trials, it delivered strong performance both at sea level and in high-altitude areas, meeting the Army’s operational standards.
Key Capabilities
The Army highlighted the platform’s mobility, flexibility and ability to operate in severe climates. L&T says the programme will boost tactical mobility and strengthen India’s domestic defence manufacturing ecosystem.
The BvS10 Sindhu features a modular layout that can be configured for personnel transport, command and control, logistics, ambulance roles, repair and recovery and weapon support.
Industry Partnerships
BAE Systems and L&T describe the agreement as a major step in expanding advanced manufacturing in India. It also marks the first time the BvS10 platform is being produced for an Asian country, reflecting growing global interest in all-terrain, armoured and amphibious systems.Global Users
The BvS10 is already deployed by Austria, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, Ukraine and the United Kingdom, with Germany placing new orders.
