Renowned composer and global music icon AR Rahman, known for maintaining strict privacy around his personal life, recently shared a rare and heartfelt glimpse into his family’s achievements. His daughter, Raheema Rahman, has graduated from the Glion Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland, earning a Master of Science in Hospitality, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation.
Rahman commemorated the occasion with a proud Instagram post, featuring Raheema in her graduation attire and referring to her as his “little princess.”
Raheema’s academic and professional journey reflects a unique blend of artistic sensibility and entrepreneurial ambition. Before pursuing her master’s degree, she earned a Diploma in Patisserie from the International Centre for Culinary Arts in Dubai. In 2018, she also attended a five-week Music Performance Intensive at the Berklee College of Music, a tribute to the family’s deep-rooted connection to music.
Her earlier education includes time at Lady Andal and Sir Mutha Schools in Chennai, followed by private study under the Cambridge International Examinations system.
Beyond academics, Raheema has built an eclectic career portfolio. She has worked as a freelance event manager, including the planning of a multi-day wedding celebration, and interned at Nayla Al Khaja Films in Dubai, where she gained hands-on experience in film production and direction. Additionally, she completed a social media internship at Qyuki Digital Media in 2019, showcasing her interest in digital media and content creation.
This moment of celebration comes at a time when the Rahman family has also been in the public spotlight for more personal reasons. In 2024, AR Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu, announced a separation citing emotional strain. However, Saira later clarified that they are not legally divorced. She also extended her best wishes to Rahman during his recovery from a recent health scare involving chest pain and an angioplasty procedure.
In the midst of these challenges, Raheema’s graduation stands as a heartening milestone, highlighting her emergence as a multifaceted and promising young professional. Her achievement offers a moment of pride and optimism for the family and inspiration to many.
