India has warned Pakistan that it will be held fully responsible for any consequences arising from attacks on Indian critical infrastructure. The statement was issued by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri amid escalating tensions between the two countries. He specifically rejected Pakistan’s allegation that India targeted the Neelum-Jhelum dam in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, calling it baseless. Misri stated that if Pakistan is using such claims to justify targeting similar Indian infrastructure, it will be entirely accountable for the aftermath.

The warning was issued in the context of growing threats to vital Indian installations such as power plants and refineries. Meanwhile, reports indicate that Pakistan has carried out heavy shelling and drone attacks in areas across Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan, including key locations like Jammu airport and the Pathankot airbase. India has responded by repelling these attacks and successfully intercepted at least eight Pakistani missiles in border areas such as Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia. The Indian S-400 air defense system was used to shoot down multiple incoming threats along the western border.
Precautionary measures like blackouts and air raid sirens were activated across sensitive areas, including Akhnoor, Samba, Baramulla, and Kupwara. The Indian military also revealed that Pakistani forces had attempted to strike military bases in 15 cities across the northern and western regions using drones and missiles, all of which were thwarted. Additionally, India claimed that its counterattack destroyed Pakistan’s air defense system in Lahore.
Reuters reported that Chinese-made Pakistani fighter jets fired at Indian military aircraft, with U.S. officials confirming that at least two Indian planes were hit. This incident is being closely watched by the U.S. as a potential indicator of how China might respond in a future conflict involving Taiwan or the broader Indo-Pacific region.
