The Ministry of Labour and Employment has announced a partnership with food delivery platform Swiggy to enhance job creation through a public-private collaboration. Swiggy, present in over 500 cities in India, has already contributed significantly to employment, particularly within the gig economy. This new initiative aims to strengthen connections between job seekers and employers, with the potential to create millions of job opportunities.

Swiggy’s Role in Job Creation
The collaboration comes as part of the government’s broader efforts to work with private organizations in bridging gaps in the labor market. Swiggy has been a major player in providing job opportunities, already listing around 50 million jobs on its platform. This MoU is expected to accelerate the job-matching process, offering a more efficient way to connect candidates with employers.
Union Labour and Employment Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya, emphasized the significance of the National Career Service (NCS) portal, which serves as a central hub for job seekers and employers. With over 310 million people registered on the portal, the integration with Swiggy is designed to help employers quickly find the right candidates, simplifying the hiring process.

NCS Platform to Enhance Job Matching
Mandaviya highlighted how the NCS platform will revolutionize recruitment in India. Employers will be able to input their manpower needs and immediately find suitable candidates, making the hiring process faster and more streamlined. He also pointed out that this initiative is expected to create up to 1.2 million new jobs through Swiggy alone over the next two to three years.
The NCS portal, according to Mandaviya, will not only be a game-changer in India but could potentially set a global standard for job matching. More institutions are expected to sign similar MoUs to further increase job opportunities.
Swiggy’s Commitment to Expanding Job Access
Swiggy’s operations head, Salbh Srivastava, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with NCS. He highlighted that the collaboration would allow Swiggy to tap into a broader pool of skilled talent. Swiggy has already created hundreds of thousands of jobs, and this partnership is expected to scale up their hiring efforts significantly across the country.
Swiggy’s New AI-Powered App: Pyng
In addition to the MoU, Swiggy launched its new AI-powered consumer app, Pyng. This app is designed to connect users with over 100 types of verified professionals, ranging from tax planners to yoga trainers. Swiggy co-founder Nandan Reddy explained that the app aims to meet the growing demand for professional services in today’s fast-paced world. By providing a reliable and spam-free platform, Pyng hopes to address consumers’ needs for specialized assistance, offering access to experts who can provide real value.
This new initiative from Swiggy marks another step towards expanding its influence beyond food delivery, as it ventures into the professional services space.
