Tata Motors, one of India’s leading car manufacturers, is renowned for its durable and well-built vehicles. With a focus on robust build quality, Tata has managed to captivate not just the general public but also high-profile individuals, including celebrities and billionaires. Below, we explore the Tata cars owned by some of India’s most prominent billionaires and how their choices reflect their preferences for homegrown automotive excellence.

Sridhar Vembu – Nexon EV

Sridhar Vembu, the CEO of Zoho Corporation, is known for leading a simple lifestyle, despite his massive wealth. Vembu stands out for driving a Tata Nexon EV, a vehicle that symbolizes his commitment to sustainability and practicality. His Nexon EV, finished in Teal Blue, is a pre-facelift model that reflects his affinity for eco-friendly transportation. Along with his electric car, Vembu also relies on electric autorickshaws for his local commute, showing that he values efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally conscious vehicles.

Rajesh Hiranandani –Tata Nano

Billionaire Rajesh Hiranandani, a key figure in the real estate industry, is known for his fun-loving and jolly nature. Unlike most billionaires, he owns a Tata Nano, a vehicle that once became a symbol of affordability in India. Rajesh has been spotted multiple times driving his red Nano, even arriving at the prestigious Jio Convention Centre in it. His choice reflects a down-to-earth personality and a preference for simplicity over luxury, which sets him apart from other billionaires who prefer high-end cars.

Motilal Oswal – Tata Safari

Motilal Oswal, the founder of Motilal Oswal Financial Services, made a bold choice by purchasing a Tata Safari Dark Edition. Oswal is one of the first high-profile personalities to buy the facelifted version of the iconic Tata Safari. The Safari’s 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine and advanced features like Level 2 ADAS align with Oswal’s preference for power and cutting-edge technology. In fact, Oswal has publicly stated that he now prefers Indian-made vehicles over foreign brands, showcasing his patriotism and belief in the homegrown brand.

N Chandrasekaran – Dual Nexon EVs

N Chandrasekaran, the chairman of Tata Sons and Tata Motors, has a deep connection with his company’s vehicles. His preference for Tata cars is evident in his ownership of two Tata Nexon EVs. He purchased his first Nexon EV shortly after its launch in 2019, and his second Nexon EV in 2020, which happened to be the 50,000th unit of the electric vehicle. Both cars are white, and the second one is the Nexon EV Max variant, which boasts a larger battery and longer range, reflecting Chandrasekaran’s commitment to sustainability and innovation within the company.

Madhuri Dixit – Tata Nexon EV Dark Edition

Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit, along with her husband Dr. Shriram Nene, opted for a Tata Nexon EV Dark Edition. Dr. Nene, who is an advocate for electric vehicles, expressed his admiration for the quick delivery and overall performance of the car. The couple’s choice of the pre-facelift version of the Nexon EV highlights their support for the electric vehicle revolution in India. The Nexon EV Dark Edition is known for its stylish design and powerful features, making it a popular choice among those looking for a mix of luxury and eco-consciousness.

The car choices of these Indian billionaires highlight the diverse preferences that can exist within the same economic strata. While some opt for the humble and affordable Tata Nano, others go for the high-performance Tata Safari or the eco-friendly Tata Nexon EV. These choices not only reflect the personal tastes of these billionaires but also emphasize the growing appeal of homegrown brands and electric vehicles in India. Tata Motors continues to prove that it offers more than just sturdy cars – it offers a symbol of trust, innovation, and sustainability.
