In Indian cinema, reaching the Rs 1000 crore milestone is a remarkable achievement, setting a new standard for blockbuster success. While stars like Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, and Kareena Kapoor Khan are often associated with high-grossing films, it was Ramya Krishnan who first achieved this feat.

Ramya Krishnan made history with her role as Shivagami in the 2015 blockbuster Baahubali. The film was a massive success, surpassing the Rs 1000 crore mark and earning Ramya Krishnan widespread acclaim for her powerful performance. At the age of 45, her role in Baahubali established her as a leading figure in Indian cinema.

The Role of Sivagami

The role of Sivagami was initially offered to Sridevi. However, due to scheduling conflicts and high fee demands, the role went to Ramya Krishnan. This casting decision proved pivotal, as Ramya Krishnan’s portrayal of Sivagami became one of the most memorable performances in Indian cinema, significantly contributing to the film’s success.

Early Beginnings and Career Evolution

Ramya Krishnan’s acting career began at just 13 with the Tamil film Vellai Manasu, released in 1984. Her Bollywood debut came in 1993 with Yash Chopra’s Parampara. She went on to star in notable comedies such as Banarasi Babu and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, showcasing her versatility across both Hindi and South Indian films.

Continued Success and Future Projects

Ramya Krishnan has continued to impress with her diverse acting portfolio. Her most recent appearance was in the 2019 MX Player series Queen, marking her debut on the OTT platform. Fans are eagerly anticipating her next film, Devra, where she is set to return to the big screen, promising to deliver her signature charm and depth once again.

Ramya Krishnan’s journey from a young debutante to a leading actress who broke box office records highlights her exceptional talent and dedication. Her role in Baahubali remains a significant achievement in the history of Indian cinema.
