Maruti Suzuki, the renowned Indian automaker, has discreetly phased out the Jimny Thunder Edition, removing it from the official company website. The limited-edition variant of the subcompact off-roader, launched in December 2023, offered a unique touch with an exclusive set of features and a price tag Rs 1-2 lakh lower than the standard model. Priced between Rs 10.74 lakh and Rs 14.05 lakh (ex-showroom), the Jimny Thunder Edition aimed to capture the attention of off-road enthusiasts with its distinctive offerings.

Special Features and Aesthetic Enhancements

The Jimny Thunder Edition distinguished itself with additional standard accessories aimed at enhancing its visual appeal. These included special body decals and a silver garnish on various exterior elements such as the front bumper, side door cladding, door visor, ORVMs, hood, and front and side fenders. The cabin received an interior styling kit, featuring floor mats (varied for manual and automatic variants) and a tan-finish steering wheel. While these cosmetic additions brought a unique touch, the mechanical specifications of the Jimny Thunder Edition remained unchanged.

Original Prices Restored, Discounts Unveiled

Following the discontinuation of the Thunder Edition, Maruti Suzuki has reverted to the original pricing structure for the Jimny, ranging between Rs 12.74 lakh and Rs 15.05 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the automaker is keeping the momentum alive by offering enticing discounts to attract prospective buyers. The MY2024 model is available with a corporate discount of Rs 5,000 across all variants.

Discounts for the MY2023 Models

For the existing MY2023 models, Maruti Suzuki is offering discounts of up to Rs 1.05 lakh. The Zeta and Alpha variants are eligible for cash discounts of up to Rs 50,000 and Rs 1,00,000, respectively. Additionally, each variant comes with a corporate discount of Rs 5,000, making the Jimny an even more appealing choice for those looking to make a purchase.

Under the Hood

Powering the Maruti Jimny is a robust 1.5-litre K15B naturally aspirated petrol engine, generating 104 bhp and 134 Nm of peak torque. This powerhouse can be coupled with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. All variants feature a 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range gearbox, ensuring an optimal off-road driving experience.

As Maruti Suzuki bids adieu to the Jimny Thunder Edition, the focus shifts back to the core lineup, with attractive discounts making the MY2024 model an appealing choice for enthusiasts and potential buyers alike.
