GoPro has unveiled its latest action camera, the Hero 12 Black, along with two exciting accessories, the Max Lens Mod 2.0 and Extension Pole + Waterproof Shutter Remote. The Hero 12 Black, priced at Rs 45,000, is available for pre-order and is set to hit both online and offline retailers on September 13. GoPro’s CEO, Nicholas Woodman, hails it as a game-changer that redefines immersive life-capture.
The Hero 12 Black: What’s New
While the Hero 12 Black retains the form factor of its predecessor, it packs a host of impressive new features. Notably, it offers up to 2x longer battery life compared to the previous model. You can expect 70 minutes of continuous recording at 5.3K60, over 95 minutes at 5.3K30, and more than 155 minutes at 1080p30, all with HyperSmooth 6.0 video stabilization, thanks to the Enduro battery.
The camera is capable of recording 5.3K and 4K resolution videos and HDR photos. It introduces support for GP-Log format with Look Up Tables (LUTs) for professional post-production editing and color grading. The Hero 12 Black also offers wireless audio support through Bluetooth-enabled devices, including microphones and earbuds, making it a versatile choice for content creators.
New features include wireless timecode sync for easy multi-camera editing, vertical video support in horizontal mode, night effects for still images, and redesigned easy controls. Plus, it’s now compatible with standard camera mounts, tripods, and other accessories.
The Hero 12 Black remains waterproof up to 33 feet without the need for additional housing.
Max Lens Mod 2.0 Accessory
The Max Lens Mod 2.0 is a separate accessory that provides a 36% wider field-of-view in widescreen mode and a 48% taller field-of-view in vertical mode compared to the default camera lens. It’s more scratch-resistant and comes with a durable hydrophobic lens coating.
Extension Pole + Waterproof Shutter Remote Accessory
GoPro’s 48-inch-long extension pole, which collapses to just 10 inches, is designed to work seamlessly with the Hero 12 Black’s 1/4-20 mounting threads. It includes mounting fingers for compatibility with all GoPro cameras and comes with a detachable, wearable, and waterproof Bluetooth shutter remote for easy Hero 12 Black shutter control.
The Extension Pole + Waterproof Shutter Remote accessory will be available in select countries starting from October 2023, offering even more versatility to GoPro enthusiasts.
