The Bhashini project, developed under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), is set to revolutionise the Kerala High Court proceedings. Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), Bhashini aims to automate the transcription and translation of court proceedings, saving time and enhancing accessibility.
Automatic Transcription and Translation:
Through Bhashini’s AI-driven capabilities, a proof of concept will be implemented to automatically transcribe court proceedings in English or Malayalam. If the proceedings are in English, Bhashini’s APIs will transcribe and translate them into Malayalam or any other regional language. Similarly, if the proceedings are in Malayalam, they can be transcribed into English or any of the 22 regional languages.
Efficient Editing and Collaboration:
The transcribed content will be automatically captured using APIs and uploaded to a dedicated document editor. This platform will enable court clerks to edit the transcriptions for accuracy, facilitating collaborative and real-time document management. This streamlined process will significantly reduce the time required by court officials.
Native Document Editor and Workbench:
To ensure security and enhance functionality, a native document editor will be developed specifically for the Kerala High Court. This platform will allow multiple court officials to work simultaneously on editing transcriptions, providing a secure and efficient environment. Additionally, a user-friendly workbench will be designed to cater to the unique needs of high court officials, prioritising user interface and data management.
Involvement of Startups and Innovators:
MeitY plans to engage startups and innovators to develop a comprehensive workbench and a customised document editor for the project. A request for proposal will be issued to solicit contributions from the entrepreneurial ecosystem, fostering innovation and collaboration in the development of the Bhashini initiative.
Bhashadaan and Language Datasets:
As part of the broader Bhashini initiative, projects like Bhashadaan focus on crowdsourcing language inputs for multiple Indian languages. This initiative aims to create large datasets for Indian languages, enabling the training of AI models for various stakeholders to develop language-based products and services.
