Bill Gates’ London Ride

According to Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, autonomous cars will bring about the next significant revolution in the transportation industry. Recently, Bill Gates travelled across London in a self-driving vehicle.

A British Start-up company named ‘Wayve’ created an autonomous car that Bill Gates travelled in while in London.
Alex Kendall, the CEO of Wave, and a safety driver were with him.

Calling the travel experience ‘unforgettable and amazing’ in a new blog, Bill Gates said that we have made a lot of progress in autonomous vehicles in recent years. Gates added that autonomous vehicles will change transportation in the same way that personal computers have changed office work over the next decade.

Posting a video of the ride on YouTube, the billionaire predicts that roads will change significantly with the arrival of autonomous vehicles. Gates is also sceptical that there will be “autonomous vehicle-only” lanes in the future. However, Gates says the transition to fully autonomous vehicles is decades away. Bill Gates said that if an autonomous vehicle is involved in an accident, who is responsible or the government will have to create new rules and regulations regarding autonomous vehicles. Bill Gates also says that people will not feel comfortable driving a car without a steering wheel at first.

Gates also explained the technology behind Wave’s autonomous vehicles. Unlike other self-driving cars, Gates said, these will be able to act like a human. Real Time feedback is also possible depending on the driving experience. Whereas other autonomous cars can only operate on roads pre-uploaded to their system. The six-year-old Start-up is working with Gates’ Microsoft on Artificial Intelligence-based AV Technology.
