Start-ups have allured people from different walks of life. From investors to business corporations to Bollywood celebrities, all have eyed the ever-growing start-up sector.
Bollywood celebrities are leveraging their popularity and money and have stepped into investors’ shoes. Here is a list of a few female actors who have invested in various start-ups.
The most prolific Hindi female actor, Alia Bhatt has three primary start-up investments – Fashion Brand ‘Style Cracker’, socially conscious incense stick company ‘Phool’ and omnichannel beauty brand ‘Nykaa’. She also owns sustainable kidswear brand ‘Ed-A-Mamma’, which also sells maternity wear now.
Deepika Padukone is the highest paid actress in Bollywood, Padukone owns an investment entity called K.A Enterprises. She has invested in the Furniture company ‘Furlenco’, D2C cosmetic brand ‘Purplle’, Electric cab ‘BluSmart’, Yogurt brand ‘Epigamia’, Aerospace company ‘Bellatrix Aerospace’, and Creative Arts platform ‘Front Row’.
Priyanka Chopra who is also a global icon invested in the women-first dating app ‘Bumble’ in 2018. She also has a stake in ‘Holberton School’ which teaches soft skills, alongside an investment in ‘Apartment List’, a US-based real estate company.
Aishwarya Rai Bacchan has a stake in ‘Possible’, a Health-Tech start-up and ‘Ambee’, an Environmental Intelligence company based in Bangalore, for which she shelled out 50 lakh.
Wellness Guru and Actor Shilpa Shetty has been an investor since 2018 in the IPO- bound Beauty brand ‘Mamaearth’. In December 2022, she infused another 6.7 crore, as participated in the funding round of the company.
Anushka Sharma; apart from owning her own D2C Clothing brand ‘Nush’ and Jewellery company ‘Giva’, Sharma invested in Fintech Unicorn ‘Digit Insurance’ with her husband, Virat Kohli. Both celebrities have invested in a Plant-based meat company called ‘Blue Tribe’.
The British actress Katrina Kaif stepped into the world of start-ups by launching her line of Cosmetics. She partnered with a Mumbai-based beauty e-commerce platform named ‘Nykaa’.
