Air India and Vistara to merge
The deal would give Singapore Airlines (SIA) a 25.1 per cent stake in the Air India group
It will also widen the airline’s market presence
SIA would invest Rs 2,059 crore in Air India as part of it
If needed, SIA and Tata will participate in additional capital injections later
The merger is expected to complete by March 2024
Vistara is a 51:49 joint venture between Tata Sons and SIA
It is India’s leading full-service carrier with operations in the Middle East, Asia, and Europe
The merger will give Air India a combined fleet of 218 aircraft
Air India will become India’s largest international carrier and the second-largest domestic carrier
