Ola Electric is on a mission to propagate the usage of electric vehicles in India. Lately, it had launched a campaign to deliver Ola scooters within three days of the purchase order. Now, Ola Electric has launched Ola Maps, its own navigation system.
Bhavish Aggarwal, Group CEO and co-founder of Ola, announced it on his social media platform. “We’ve made our in-house maps live on the Ola Electric website. Soon all Ola properties will run only Ola Maps. Absolutely excited about the potential to build the future of maps for India in India (sic),” wrote Aggarwal.
Ola had announced building new geo-location technologies after its acquisition of Geospoc, a Pune-based geospatial services startup, in October. During the acquisition, Bhavish had mentioned developing 3D, HD and vector maps. Ola Maps seems to be the first step towards these goals.
