In the foldable phone segment, Samsung is a pioneer. It has over 60 per cent market share in the segment. Recent reports say that the Korean smartphone maker is working on a new concept. It is a dual-screen phone with a transparent display at the back. Samsung filed a patent with the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) in January 2022. The patent has been published now.

According to the patent, Samsung plans a phone with a secondary display at the back. The uniqueness is the display technology Samsung uses. The secondary display is said to be transparent. When turned on, it may work like an always-on display. When turned off, the feature will become invisible and the display will blend with the rest of the smartphone.

The user can turn on the display fully or partially depending on their requirements. Moreover, users can click selfies with the rear camera. In the foldable phone segment, Samsung has Xiaomi’s Mix Fold 2 and Google’s foldable phone as competitors. This new tech may give a new edge to the smartphone maker. Now, we will have to wait until the launch to know the nuances of the new phone.
