Mumbai plans to build a biogas facility to handle 1,000 tonnes of wet trash each day. A bio-gas plant is being planned for Mumbai to treat 1,000 tons of wet waste generated daily. The plant will come up at the Mahalaxmi waste treatment facility, and will process 1,000 tonnes of wet waste into 10 MW of power. The power generated will be supplied to the grid, and the biogas that will be produced can be used for cooking purposes.
