The launch of 5G services by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will happen on September 29 and not on Independence Day as planned earlier. The launch will coincide with the opening ceremony of India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2022. The PM has already inaugurated the country’s first 5G testbed on May 17, which would enable start-ups and industry players to test and validate their products locally and reduce dependence on foreign facilities.

The company also plans to set up a manufacturing facility. The startup so far received $13 million in funding. It raised its seed round of $2 Mn in March 2021 Israel-based Maniv Mobility and San Francisco-based Trucks VC did that investment. River is a Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler startup.

5G in India is all set to become a reality now that the spectrum auctions are done with. However, with telcos buying large capacities of spectrum, price hikes could be imminent. Executives from telcos said the three private-sector carriers can launch 5G services in some circles by early October. Given that the government has assured to allot airwaves by the middle of August. According to reports, 13 cities across the country will get 5G in the beginning. These 13 cities are Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune.
Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) retains top spot in India’s passenger vehicle segment, in terms of dispatches to dealers in the country. The latest data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). Maruti managed to dispatch 1,42,850 units in July 2022. Hyundai placed itself as India’s second-largest player in the passenger vehicle segment. Hyundai managed to sell 50,500 units last month. Mahindra sold 28,053 units last month. Toyota registered a 50% yearly increase in July sales with 19,693 units sold.
EV firm Komaki introduced fireproof batteries in India. The lithium-ion ferro phosphate batteries will be available from next month. Its cells contain iron, making the batteries safe from fire. A mobile app will notify about the battery health. Recent fires in electric two-wheelers have brought down the sales. The fire-resistant battery might be able to remove that fear. MSME registrations on the government’s Udayam portal crossed 1 crore on August 2, 2022. The portal was launched on July 1, 2020, redefining the MSME sector. The registered businesses have employed 7.6 crore people, including 1.7 crore women. In the FY21-22 alone 18.34 lakh MSMEs registered on the portal, employing 1.16 crore people. Haryana got the highest number of MSME registrations in the financial year followed by Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. In Haryana, the 66,767 MSMEs registered at the portal generated 3.36 lakh jobs. Reports say that both Adani and Ambani are planning to install two compressed biogas (CBG) plants. Adani’s plants would come in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Reliance Industries is yet to confirm the locations. The plants will have a capacity of 40 million tonnes per annum, and both the companies will invest up to Rs 600 crore to build the plants. What is compressed biogas (CBG)? It is produced by the anaerobic decomposition of agricultural waste, sugarcane press mud, and municipal waste.
