Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD, backed by Warren Buffet, will launch the Born Electric SUV for the Indian market in the fourth quarter of the current year. Deliveries would begin in January. This will be the first Born Electric SUV in the mass market. The Born Electric models from Tata Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra will go on sale from 2024.
The state-of-the-art Amrita Hospital is built on a sprawling 130-acre campus. It has a dedicated seven-storey research block. Shellios Technolabs, A Delhi-based startup developed an anti-pollution helmet. It can help a two-wheeler rider breathe cleaner air by filtering it. The helmet, PUROS, has an air-purifying system attached to the rear of the helmet. The helmet also comes with a micro-USB charging port. And a Bluetooth-enabled app that lets the rider know when the helmet requires cleaning. The startup has received funding from the Ministry of Science and Technology Entrepreneur Park Noida. The helmet has been granted a utility patent It is sold across the country at a price of Rs 4,500.
What about a common charger for most mobile devices?The Ministry of Consumer Affairs is checking its possibility. An expert group will study the adoption of common chargers. They will examine charging ports used in three segments. Mobiles and feature phones, wearable devices, and laptops and tablets. A detailed report to be submitted in two months. Initially, India would explore shifting to two types of chargers. This would include a C-Type port. One-charger policy is likely to find wide public support. But, the India Cellular and Electronics Association has raised concerns. It says migrating to C port type would raise the prices of low-end chargers.

Adani Group acquired a 29.18% stake in television broadcaster NDTV Ltd and made an open offer to buy another stake, according to a request from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and announced that it will acquire 26% more stakes of the company. B Capital Group to back Indian sexual health startup Mojocare. B Capital is a venture capital firm by Facebook Inc. co-founder Eduardo Saverin and Raj Ganguly. Mojocare to raise about $20 million in a Series A round by B Capital Group. Bengaluru-based Mojocare would use the fund to diversify its product portfolio. Mojocare helps consumers with issues such as fertility, haircare and weight loss. The platform offers product sales and consultations.
British luxury supercar maker McLaren Automotive forays into India. India is the company’s 41st global territory. Its first retail outlet McLaren Mumbai will open in October 2022.
