Kerala Startup Mission is organizing a virtual exhibition to provide opportunity for agritech startups. An online exhibition for technology-based products and services in the agriculture sector. Tata Motors will increase the prices of its commercial vehicles in the range of 1.5 to 2.5%. It will be effective from July 1 to partially offset rising input costs. The hike will be across the range of commercial vehicles. The quantum will depend on the individual model and variant. In April, Tata Motors had hiked the prices of its passenger vehicles by 1.1%. And that of commercial vehicles by 2 – 2.5% to partially offset rising input costs.
BYJU’S says 500 employees laid off across Whitehat Jr and Toppr. The firm says it is to accelerate long-term growth. But, sacked employees claim 1,100 staff had been retrenched at Toppr. However, Toppr has not confirmed it. Meanwhile, Whitehat Jr cut down 300 employees. Whitehat Jr spokesperson said it is to realign priorities. Edtech firms Unacademy, Vedantu, Lido etc have laid off thousands of people.
Reliance Brands Limited (RBL) to foray into food & beverage retail. RBL will collaborate with Pret A Manger for the same. Pret A Manger is a British fresh food and organic coffee chain. It started in London in 1986.It offers organic coffee, sandwiches, salads and wraps. Pret A Manger currently has 550 shops globally.They are spread across 9 markets like the US, UK, Europe. RBL will open its food chain across India. The initial focus will be on major cities and travel hubs.
Elon Musk’s Tesla is doing another round of layoffs. This time in its Autopilot division. Tesla reportedly fired 200 employees. Closed an entire office in San Mateo, California. Some workers were shifted to another location. Earlier, Musk had stressed cutting jobs. He said he had a ‘super bad feeling’ about the economy. Tesla has not responded to the news.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has received over two lakh applications under the Agnipath recruitment scheme. This happened within six days of the launch of the registration process. After the scheme was unveiled on June 14 there were violent protests against it. Under the Agnipath scheme, youths between the ages of 17-and-a-half and 21 years would be inducted for a four-year-tenure. 25% of the candidates will be subsequently inducted for regular service. The registration process began on June 24 and saw the filing of 94,281 applications by Monday and 56,960 applications till Sunday.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has issued an ultimatum to Twitter India.To comply with the country’s Information Technology Rules by July 4 or face punitive action.The MeitY has given Twitter time until July 4 to comply with all its blocking orders, failing which it might lose its intermediary status.It will make the website legally liable for content posted by users on its platform.Twitter had multiple run-ins with the government over content takedown.

India launches an information portal for importers and exporters. It is called National Import-Export for Yearly Analysis of Trade ( NIRYAT). Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the portal. Portal to provide all information related to foreign trade. It will provide real-time data to stakeholders. Soon, district-level data will also be available.
