The Sagar Defense Engineering Company has manufactured the Varuna passenger drone for the Navy. The passenger drone can carry a payload of 130 kg including a passenger. Thiruvananthapuram native Athira Preetha Rani is on cloud nine. She has been selected by NASA for their astronaut training programme. Akasa Air is all set for take off on 7 August from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. It’s first service is for Mumbai-Ahmedabad route. The airline will start services on the Bengaluru-Kochi route from August 13 And Bengaluru-Mumbai route from August 19. Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M Scindia along with MoS General Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd.) will inaugurate Akasa Air’s Mumbai-Ahmedabad flight. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad flights will operate 26 times a week. The Bengaluru-Kochi and Bengaluru-Mumbai flights will operate 28 times per week.

Pawan Munjal invests in Exponent Energy. Exponent Energy is an Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure startup. Pawan Munjal is the chairman of Hero Motocorp. Exponent Energy will set up 100 EV charging stations in Bengaluru. It will also increase its EV battery pack production capabilities. Moreover, Exponent will expand its footprint to other cities. The startup has plans to produce an electric three-wheeler. For that, Exponent will partner with EV manufacturer Altigreen Propulsion.

The Ministry of Electronics and IT (Meity) will now conduct compliance audits of social media companies every quarter.To tighten the noose on social media platforms, the government has proposed to set up an appellate panel which will have power to overrule decisions taken by social media companies with respect to any grievance. The public consultation process with respect to the proposed rule has been wrapped up by the IT ministry.
