Adani’s Tax Outgo Reaches ₹74,945 Crore

Adani Group’s total tax contributions rose 29% to ₹74,945 crore in FY 2024–25, driven by strong business growth. The group emphasizes tax transparency and social responsibility as part of its ESG commitment.

The Adani Group announced a significant 29% increase in its total tax contributions for the financial year 2024–25 (April 2024 to March 2025), reaching ₹74,945 crore, up from ₹58,104 crore in FY 2023–24. This growth reflects both direct and indirect taxes paid, as well as social security contributions for employees across its portfolio companies.

Breakdown of Tax Contributions
Of the total ₹74,945 crore paid, direct tax contributions accounted for ₹28,720 crore, indirect taxes ₹45,407 crore, and other contributions, including social security payments, amounted to ₹818 crore. The total tax outgo in FY25 is comparable to the cost of constructing the entire Mumbai Metro network and nearly enough to host a modern Olympic Games.

Key Contributors Within the Group
Among Adani’s listed entities, top tax contributors include Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL), Adani Cement Limited (ACL), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), and Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL). The group’s tax payments also cover other companies such as ACC and Sanghi Industries, which are linked to the group through its seven listed entities.

Transparency and Reporting
The Adani Group publishes independent annual tax reports for its seven listed companies—AEL, APSEZ, AGEL, Adani Energy Solutions, Adani Power, Adani Total Gas, and Ambuja Cements. Additionally, a document titled ‘Basis of Preparation and Approach to Tax’ provides a detailed breakdown of the group’s global tax contributions, covering direct taxes, indirect taxes collected on behalf of stakeholders, and social security contributions for employees.Commitment to ESG and Social Responsibility
Adani Group emphasizes tax transparency as a key part of its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework. The group views this voluntary disclosure as a way to build stakeholder trust and promote accountability in global tax practices. It aims to balance growth with social responsibility, transforming India’s infrastructure landscape while driving innovation and long-term value creation for stakeholders.
