In a strategic move to broaden its footprint in the aviation sector, the Adani Group is preparing to enter the airport ground handling business. This development comes after the Indian government revoked the security clearance of Turkish firm Çelebi Airport Services, which previously managed ground operations at several major airports.
Arun Bansal, CEO of Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), confirmed the group’s intentions to bid for ground handling contracts at Delhi, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad airports. The Adani Group currently operates eight airports, including Mumbai and the upcoming Navi Mumbai airport.
To spearhead this new venture, Adani has appointed Anurag Srivastava, former head of Bird Group’s ground handling division, as CEO of its ground handling vertical. The group will face competition from established players like Air India SATS, Bird Group, and AI Airport Services Limited.
This expansion aligns with Adani’s broader strategy to enhance its presence in India’s aviation infrastructure and services sector.
