Air India has emerged as a major force in perishable cargo logistics during the 2025 mango season. In April alone, the airline moved nearly 1,000 tonnes of Alphonso, Safeda, and Dussehri mangoes from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh to 43 cities across 31 countries, including New York, London, Frankfurt, Toronto, Tokyo, and Sydney.

Enhanced Cold-Chain Capabilities
To preserve freshness over long distances, Air India uses certified temperature-controlled storage, cool dollies, thermal blankets, and automated handling systems. These measures ensure mangoes are protected from damage and maintain quality from farm to shelf.
Leveraging Global Connectivity
Air India connects Indian mango producers with major global markets through its extensive international route network. The majority of shipments originate from Western India and reach high-end outlets, supermarkets, and farmers’ markets abroad.
Emphasis on Quality Handling
Shipments begin at certified packaging centers with strict quality controls. Every stage, from sorting to air transport, is carefully managed to meet export regulations and maintain product integrity. Ramesh Mamidala, Head of Cargo, noted that mangoes are handled with the same care as fragile goods.
Focused Growth Strategy
With global demand increasing during peak mango season, Air India is expanding operations to meet market needs. Collaboration between exporters, freight forwarders, and cargo handlers is helping the airline strengthen its position in the perishables logistics segment.
Delivering India’s Summer Worldwide
By ensuring reliable service, careful handling, and consistent delivery standards, Air India is offering more than a logistics solution. Each shipment represents the taste and aroma of Indian summer reaching consumers across the globe.
