GEMS Education, founded by Indian entrepreneur Sunny Varkey, is set to open the world’s most expensive school in Dubai. The GEMS School of Research and Innovation, located in Dubai Sports City, will cost USD 100 million to build and offer top-tier facilities, making it the priciest school in the Gulf region.
Ultra-Luxury Facilities
The school will feature a 600-seat auditorium, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, and a raised football field that also serves as a helipad. It will also have high-tech learning centers with robotics labs, AR, and VR-equipped classrooms.
High Tuition Fees
With annual fees starting at AED 116,000 (Rs 27.27 lakh) for early years and going up to AED 206,000 (Rs 48.43 lakh) for senior students, it will be among the most expensive schools worldwide.
Sunny Varkey’s Vision
Sunny Varkey, son of Kerala-born teachers Mariama and KS Varkey, expanded his parents’ school business in Dubai. In 2000, he established Global Education Management Systems (GEMS), which has since grown into a global education network across England, India, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the US.
