Puma India has partnered with badminton champion and two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu, marking the brand’s official entry into badminton. This collaboration signifies a major expansion in Puma’s portfolio, making India the first country to introduce racquet sports within the Puma universe. To celebrate Sindhu, Puma launched a unique activation, temporarily changing its brand name to “PVMA” at several stores, creating significant buzz online.
As part of the partnership, Puma will soon release a high-performance badminton range, featuring footwear, apparel, and accessories tailored for the sport. Sindhu joins a prestigious group of athletes affiliated with Puma, including cricket stars Harmanpreet Kaur and Mohammed Shami, Olympians Sarabjot Singh and MC Mary Kom, Paralympian Avani Lekhara, and international icons like Usain Bolt and Neymar Jr.
The collaboration will debut at the India Open 2025, setting the stage for a new chapter in badminton’s growth in India. Puma aims to elevate the sport’s profile and inspire the next generation of athletes. With badminton’s growing popularity—especially among Gen Z—this partnership is expected to boost the sport’s appeal, particularly among young athletes.
Sindhu’s accomplishments have significantly raised badminton’s profile in India. As the first Indian to win five world championship medals, she has also earned multiple accolades, including the Khel Ratna and Padma Bhushan. With 4 million Instagram followers, she is the most-followed badminton player globally. Sindhu expressed excitement about joining Puma, emphasizing how the partnership aligns with her passion for pushing boundaries and inspiring others.
Karthik Balagopalan, Managing Director of Puma India, highlighted Sindhu’s remarkable legacy in Indian sports, noting that this partnership will help Puma expand its presence in India’s thriving sports market and encourage more young people to take up badminton.
