Nalini Unagar, the face behind the cooking channel Nalini’s Kitchen Recipe, has announced her exit from YouTube after facing financial challenges. Over the past three years, she created over 250 videos and invested nearly ₹8 lakh in building a dedicated kitchen, purchasing studio equipment, and promoting her content. Despite her efforts, she reported zero income from the platform.

Announcement on Social Media

Unagar shared her decision in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), detailing her struggles. “I failed in my YouTube career, so I’m selling all my kitchen accessories and studio equipment. If anyone is interested in buying, please let me know,” she wrote. In another post, she openly discussed her financial losses, stating, “I have invested approximately ₹8 lakh in my YouTube channel. The return? ₹0.”

Deleting Content and Lessons Learned

Following her decision, Unagar deleted all her YouTube content. She cautioned others about relying solely on online platforms as a source of income. “Online platforms require a bit of luck. Your ‘shop’ can shut down before you even wake up the next day,” she remarked.

Community Reactions

Her story quickly gained attention, sparking discussions about the challenges of making a career in online content creation. While some users empathized and encouraged her to keep going, others suggested leaving her videos online, as algorithms might have promoted them in the future.

Past Controversy

This isn’t the first time Unagar has been in the spotlight. Last year, she had a public spat with actor Swara Bhaskar over vegetarianism and body image, which became a widely debated topic online.

Unagar’s journey highlights the unpredictable nature of online platforms and the importance of diversifying income sources.
