In the United Arab Emirates, a labour card needs to be attained first in order to enter the workforce. The labour card is an essential piece of paper issued by the free zone where you are employed or the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, or MoHRE. It is a proof of your employment as well as an extremely important identification tool that shows your position, employing company, and work permit expiration date. Obtaining Your Labour Card
Although the UAE does not provide any printed labour cards, employees can freely download and print an electronic copy if they want to. Here’s how to obtain your labour card
Through the MoHRE Website
- Visit the MoHRE at mohre.gov.ae .
- At the top of the homepage, click on ‘Services’.
- Enlarge the menu and tap New Enquiry Services, which directs you to inquiry.mohre.gov.ae.
- Click on ‘Print Electronic Work Permit’ under ‘Choose a Service
- Fill in the relevant details: work permit number, transaction number, personal code, date of birth
- Tap ‘Search to view your electronic labour card.
- To print out a copy on paper, ensure the ‘Print’ checkmark is ticked.
Through the MoHRE App
- Log in to the MoHRE app with UAE Pass.
- Tap on ‘Employee’ and type in your labour card number.
- Once you input the number, the app will then display your labour card.
- You can print it by opting for the ‘Print’ option.
Labour Information
If you do not know your labour details, then you can contact MoHRE at 600590000. You might be asked for your Emirates ID number to verify, and then they would provide your labour information over the phone.
Alternatively, you can log into the MoHRE app and get most of your information at the ‘Dashboard’. Please note that even though all the information is available here, transaction number might be required to be mentioned against your employment contract .
