HDFC Bank, one of India’s leading private sector banks, has recently highlighted its significant contributions to social causes through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, ‘Parivartan’. For the financial year 2023-24, HDFC Bank allocated an impressive ₹945.31 crore to CSR activities. This marks a notable increase of approximately ₹125 crore from the previous year, reflecting the bank’s commitment to fulfilling its social obligations.
Extensive Reach and Impact
HDFC Bank’s ‘Parivartan’ program, operational for nearly a decade, has made a substantial difference across India. The program’s initiatives span 28 states and 8 union territories, positively affecting the lives of over 10 crore people. According to the annual report, ‘Parivartan’ has impacted around 10,000 households and reached 9,000 villages. Additionally, it has successfully engaged with 85 out of the 112 districts identified in the Aspirational District Programme (ADP).
Focus Areas for Sustainable Growth
Kaizad Bharucha, Deputy Managing Director of HDFC Bank, emphasized the bank’s focus on key areas such as rural development, education, skill enhancement, healthcare, financial literacy, and environmental sustainability. Bharucha, who also oversees the bank’s CSR and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) functions, stated, “Our aim is to support eco-friendly and inclusive growth in the communities where we operate.”
