Patanjali Ayurveda Ltd, led by yoga guru Baba Ramdev, announced the cessation of 14 products following the immediate suspension of their manufacturing licences by Uttarakhand authorities. The company has directed 5,606 franchise stores to withdraw these products from shelves.
Media Advertisements Withdrawn
In response to Uttarakhand’s action, Patanjali informed the Supreme Court that it has instructed media platforms to remove advertisements for these products across all formats. A bench comprising Justices Hima Kohli and Sandeep Mehta is scheduled to hear the case on July 30.
Licence Suspension Details
The Uttarakhand state licensing authority cited “repeated violations” of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954, for the immediate suspension of manufacturing licences on April 30. The move affects products manufactured by Patanjali Ayurveda Ltd and Divya Pharmacy.
List of Revoked Products
The products whose licences were revoked include Swasari Gold, Swasari Vati, Bronchom, Swasari Pravahi, Swasari Avaleh, MuktaVati Extra Power, Lipidom, Bp Grit, Madhugrit, MadhunashiniVati Extra Power, Livamrit Advance, Livogrit, Eyegrit Gold, and Patanjali Drishti Eye Drop.
Supreme Court Proceedings
The Supreme Court is addressing a petition filed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), alleging that Patanjali engaged in a negative campaign against Covid vaccination efforts and modern medical practices.
