In the light of the Israel-Hamas war, India has announced its rescue operations named ‘Operation Ajay’ to bring back all the stranded Indian citizens in the war zone. Yesterday, it was also reported that India is set to begin the mission of chartered flights to bring back people.

Relieving the initial stress, India’s first flight carrying India’s 212 citizens landed in Delhi airport today. They were received by Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar upon their arrival.

On Thursday night, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar shared pictures of the first repatriation of the stranded citizens on X, formerly known as Twitter saying: “Operation Ajay gets underway. 212 citizens onboard the flight are enroute New Delhi.”

A UN spokesperson in a news report was quoted as saying, “The Israeli military has directed the evacuation of northern Gaza within 24 hours.”

The news agency ANI has reported, Indian Ambassador to Israel, Sanjeev Singla, emphasized the commitment of the Indian Embassy in Israel to safeguarding the welfare of Indian citizens in conflict-ridden Israel. He also disclosed that, as part of “Operation Ajay,” the embassy will facilitate the return of Indian nationals who wish to return to India.

The ‘Operation Ajay’ was launched by the Indian government on the sixth day (Thursday, October 12) of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war to repatriate Indians from Israel and Palestine through special chartered flights. Around 18,000 Indians are in Israel and 17 in Palestine.

“Launching #OperationAjay to facilitate the return from Israel of our citizens who wish to return. Special charter flights and other arrangements being put in place, fully committed to the safety and well-being of our nationals abroad,” S Jaishankar had announced on X.

Under this operation, special chartered flights will bring back the Indians, and the Indian Navy ships will also be deployed if the need arises.
