This approval reflects the Government’s commitment to enhancing the naval defence capabilities of the nation. The DAC meeting also resulted in the AoN for the procurement of three additional Scorpene submarines, further strengthening India’s maritime prowess.
Inter-Governmental Agreement and Negotiations
The Defence Ministry announced that the Acceptance of Necessity for Rafale Marine aircraft has been granted, along with associated equipment, weapons, simulators, spares, documentation, crew training, and logistic support. The procurement will be based on the Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA) between India and France. The final price and terms of purchase will be determined through negotiations with the French Government, taking into account comparative pricing of similar aircraft in other countries.
Focus on Indigenous Content and Atma Nirbharta
The DAC also approved the proposal to establish guidelines for achieving the desired indigenous content in all categories of capital acquisition cases.
