The Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission (KKEM), the flagship programme of the Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (K-DISC), has won the Platinum award for its Digital Workforce Management System (DWMS) portal at the Government of India’s 2022 Digital India Awards. The award was presented at Vijnan Bhavan in New Delhi by Smt. Draupadi Murmu, the Hon’ President of India, to Dr. P. V. Unnikrishnan, Member Secretary, K-DISC, Shri P. M. Mohammed Riyas, General Manager – Skilling, KKEM, K-DISC, and Shri Ajith Kumar R, Director – Centre for Digital Innovation and Product Development, Digital University Kerala. The honour is given in the area of government entities working with startups to alter digital governance, enhance the usability of digital services, and give citizens more access to the internet. They were joined by Department Secretary Shri Alkesh Kumar Sharma and Union Minister for Electronics and IT Shri Ashwini Vaishnav.

The Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission was established by the Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council to put into practise the government of Kerala’s stated intention to guide the State toward a knowledge economy. The Mission’s establishment of the Digital Workforce Management System platform was its most significant undertaking. The platform is the foundation of KKEM, which aims to generate 2 million employment openings over the course of five years. It aims to reduce youth unemployment and increase the participation of women in the workforce. The mission develops plans while taking into account changes in the workforce, workspaces, and employment sector around the world.

This programme included startup technology. DWMS is currently in its second phase. Job seekers, employers, and talent suppliers can now all register in the system. In the following phase, loans for training, apprenticeships, and internships will be made accessible. Additionally, it aims to give job seekers access to work-from-home and work-near-home options as well as benefits like insurance and a provident fund.In addition to AI/ML-based job matching, the portal offers psychometric exams, career profiles, language learning, and personality development.

According to Dr. P. V. Unnikrishnan, the Platinum Award is a significant acknowledgment of one of the Government of Kerala’s most significant endeavours.
