The world’s largest online retailer, Amazon, has started a number of initiatives to assist Indian businesses in leveraging e-commerce exports through its global selling programme as it prepares for the upcoming international holiday season.

According to Amazon, Indian exporters will introduce made-in-India products in a variety of categories during the annual Black Friday and Cyber Monday (BFCM) sale, which is scheduled for November 24 through November 28. These categories include home and kitchen, STEM toys, apparel, health and personal care, office products, jewellery, beauty, and furniture.

Bhupen Wakankar, director of global trade at Amazon India, said during an interview with ETRetail that the business has introduced a logistics programme called Send to make foreign shipping easier for Indian exporters.

Send allows exporters participating in Amazon’s worldwide selling programme to send air packages from India to Amazon fulfilment centres in the US. The online retailer intends to quickly add more locations and shipping options.Wakankar emphasised that Send assists sellers in expediting product restocking to meet customer demand in addition to booking, sending, and tracking of shipping services and setting up auto payments.

In order to attract more sellers to the platform ahead of the holiday season, particularly small businesses, Amazon has also reduced the subscription charge for new exporters joining its worldwide selling programme for the first three months, he said.
