Indian consumers can now access the VLC Media Player website after the Central government removed the ban. This website was previously banned in India. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology lifted the restriction. On Monday, November 14, the restriction on the VLC Media Player website was lifted.
The Central government discovered that the VLC Media Player website was connecting with the server of a previously outlawed piece of software, leading to the ban. Additionally, it had discovered that the user information was being sent to a hostile nation. The website was prohibited early this year as a result of these factors becoming clear.
THE WEBSITE BAN FOR VLC MEDIA PLAYER
The VLC Media Player website was blocked under Section 69(A) of the Information Technology Act, but as no previous notice was given, the action was deemed to violate the 2009 Blocking Rules in Shreya Singhal v. Union of India. Due to the oversight, the action allowed the Internet Freedom Foundation (IFF) to file an RTI and request justification for the suspension.
