Two weeks before the manufacture of its first electric vehicle, the Ocean SUV, Fisker is increasing its manufacturing projection.Due to high demand in the U.S. and Europe, the carmaker now anticipates producing 42,400 Ocean SUVs by the end of 2023, up from an early prediction of 40,000.

Compared to an earlier target of 50,000, the business said it has received 62,000 bookings for the $37,499 Ocean and anticipates 80,000 orders by the end of the year. Therefore, not every person who has reserved an Ocean will get one in 2023.Many of those reservations were made in August, just before the Inflation Reduction Act was passed and did away with the $7,500 federal tax credit for EVs made abroad.

Customers were given a week to book the Ocean before losing their eligibility for the tax credit, and the business hurried to develop a revised website by Monday afternoon.

On November 17, the day set aside for the introduction of its 3D configurator as well as upgrades to its mobile phone app and website, The Ocean will begin production in Graz, Austria. In December, Fisker will give partner Magna a fleet of 15 SUVs.

In order to increase capacity by building a U.S. production facility by the middle of 2024, Fisker says it is in talks with potential partners.
