India’s Telecom Regulatory Authority (Trai) has said it is working on a new caller ID feature “like Truecaller” and will allow users to see the caller’s name instead of the number.
In an interview, Secretary of Trai V Ranghunandan said: This is a conversation with the service provider and we are working on it now… we need to track spam calls in India on an ongoing basis. ”
According to Truecaller, India ranked fourth among all countries receiving the most spam calls in 2021. Regarding spam calls, the secretary said: There are technology solutions such as AI that providers can offer us. ”
