Chinese Companies Again Come Under The Radar of Indian Government

Once again, Chinese companies are under the radar of the Indian government for allegedly collecting the personal data of citizens. This is a matter of concern as Chinese companies are obliged to share data with the government when needed. Reportedly, the data benefits senior members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

According to a media report, the Indian government is investigating the suspected companies for tax evasions and other financial malpractices. The Registrar of Companies (RoC) has arranged cells across the nation to investigate shell companies that have Chinese nationals who are connected to apps promoting betting and dating apps.

In India, the digital sector has boomed over the past few years, which also means Chinese companies have more access to the data of Indians. Moreover, many Indians have used Chinese apps in different sectors.

Latest reports say that Chinese telecom companies have failed to follow Indian laws. Besides trying to hide transactions with associate companies, a few Chinese firms in India have done export-import violations and GST-related manipulations. It is said the Indian units of ZTE Corp and Vivo are reportedly being investigated following the complaints received to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

This is not the first time India take strict measures against Chinese companies. In the last two years, it has banned 277 Chinese apps.
