Mentoring and networking

The Young Innovators Programme is specially designed under the Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (K-DISC) to track future innovators in Kerala. The programme aims to find and mentor young people who are determined to solve the problems in the society in which we live. It reaches out to children with comprehensive plans.

Technical and financial assistance

The Young Innovators Programme aims to develop an ecosystem that connects students to research institutes or partner institutions with a one-year scholarship and helps them build a career on innovative ideas. Each student team can have two to five members. In the Young Innovators Challenge, mentoring and networking programming will be provided to build a product or develop an innovative idea.

YIP focuses on areas such as Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Auxiliary Technology, Business Model Innovations, Climate Change and Disaster Management, Modern Medical Aid, Biomedical Technology, Unani, Siddha, Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Waste Management, Children’s Problems, Hazardous Waste Management, water conservation management and fisheries.

Students and researchers in Kerala can register for this programme. The last date to register is February 28th. After registration, applications will be scrutinized at domain centers. Participants will undergo Voice of Customer training. Participants will have to submit their idea in the next step. Those on the shortlist will present proposals at the district level. 8000 groups will be given a prize of Rs 25,000.

The 2000 shortlisted groups in this phase will get a prize of Rs 50,000. The government will provide technical and financial assistance for three years to develop the prototype product for the 900 teams selected for the third phase.
