Tata Motors and Italy-based Iveco Group are combining their commercial vehicle businesses to create the world’s fourth-largest commercial vehicle manufacturer. The combined entity is expected to generate annual revenue of around €22 billion, equivalent to approximately ₹2.28 lakh crore, with a presence in more than 100 countries.

The group aims to achieve annual sales of six lakh vehicles within five years. The combination brings together Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle operations with Iveco’s global truck, bus and defence vehicle businesses.
India Assembly and Export Plans
The combined group is exploring plans to introduce select Iveco commercial vehicle models in India through semi-knocked-down (SKD) assembly. Under this approach, vehicles are shipped in partially assembled form and completed at local facilities.
The proposed arrangement could help Iveco access the Indian commercial vehicle market without immediately establishing a fully integrated manufacturing operation. The companies are also exploring opportunities to export Tata Motors’ commercial vehicles to markets where Iveco has an established presence.
The India plans are part of a wider effort to use the two companies’ manufacturing capabilities and distribution networks across markets.
Global Scale and Market Reach
The combined business will have a broad portfolio covering trucks, buses and specialist vehicles. It will serve customers across more than 100 countries and operate through an extensive manufacturing and distribution network.
The companies are also expected to explore collaboration in electric vehicle technology, batteries, components and vehicle platforms. Such cooperation could support the development of new products and improve access to technologies across their respective markets.
The combination is expected to strengthen the group’s position in the global commercial vehicle industry, while providing opportunities to expand sales and manufacturing across India, Europe and other international markets.
