India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have discussed the evolving situation in West Asia and reviewed their strategic partnership during a high-level meeting in Abu Dhabi on November 2, 2026. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met UAE Minister of State and Special Envoy to India Reem Al Hashimy during his official visit.

The discussions covered the full range of India-UAE bilateral relations, ways to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and global issues of mutual interest. The Indian Embassy in the UAE confirmed the meeting in a post on X. However, no new agreement or specific joint position on the West Asia crisis was announced.
Series of High-Level Diplomatic Exchanges
The meeting follows a series of high-level engagements between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi. On October 19 and 20, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited Mumbai and held talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. They reviewed cooperation in trade, investment, energy, technology and other sectors, along with regional and international developments.
On October 22, UAE Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. These engagements reflect continued diplomatic coordination between the two countries amid regional tensions.
India-UAE Trade Target of $200 Billion
The diplomatic engagement comes as India and the UAE seek to expand economic ties under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which came into effect in May 2022.
Bilateral trade reached $101.25 billion in FY2025-26. During UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit to India in January 2026, both countries agreed to work towards increasing bilateral trade to $200 billion by 2032.
The partnership spans energy, infrastructure investment, financial services, technology and other sectors. The UAE is also home to approximately 4.3 million Indian nationals, making people-to-people ties an important part of the relationship.
