OnePlus is reportedly planning to launch two flagship smartphones in India, potentially expanding its premium lineup with the OnePlus 16 and OnePlus 16R. According to a report by GSMArena, citing a tipster on X, the launches could take place in December 2026 or early 2027. The company has not officially confirmed the India launch plans.

The OnePlus 16 is scheduled to be unveiled in China on October 12, 2026. Its possible India launch is notable because earlier reports had suggested that the company might not bring the flagship model to the Indian market.
The second device is expected to be the OnePlus 16R, which could be based on the OnePlus Ace 7 launched in China. If the company follows its previous strategy, the Indian model may share several specifications with the Ace series device.
According to early reports, the OnePlus 16R could feature a 6.78-inch flat OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a refresh rate of up to 185Hz. It is also tipped to include a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom and a 9,000mAh battery with 100W wired charging support.
The device is also expected to feature a metal frame, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. These specifications remain unconfirmed and could change before the official launch.
The potential launches come as smartphone brands continue to compete in India’s premium segment, where high-refresh-rate displays, advanced cameras, larger batteries and faster charging are becoming key differentiators.
If confirmed, the OnePlus 16 and OnePlus 16R could give Indian buyers more options in the flagship and performance-focused smartphone categories. For now, the launch timeline and specifications should be treated as reports rather than official announcements.
