Captain Smit Machchhar, the Indian pilot injured in the Flydubai cockpit attack, is recovering in Dubai after being shifted from Saudi Arabia for further treatment. He underwent emergency surgery in Tabuk following the September 30 incident.

Machchhar was the captain of Flydubai Flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv when a confrontation broke out in the cockpit. Despite being seriously injured, he resisted the attacker and managed to open the cockpit door, allowing passengers and crew to intervene. Other qualified pilots on board subsequently took control of the aircraft and diverted it safely to Tabuk. All 174 passengers survived.
Machchhar’s family has travelled to Dubai, while the Indian Embassy is coordinating with UAE authorities and monitoring his recovery. The pilot has received widespread recognition for his actions during the incident.
