Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met JPMorgan Chase Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon in Mumbai on September 21 during the JPMorgan India Investor Conference.

Meeting Held During Investor Conference
The meeting brought together India’s Finance Minister and one of the world’s leading banking executives as global investors continue to show interest in India’s growing economy.
Dimon is also expected to meet senior executives from some of India’s leading business groups during his visit. JPMorgan has been expanding its presence in India, particularly in areas such as investment banking and payment solutions.
JPMorgan Sees More Opportunities in India
JPMorgan has strengthened its position in India’s financial markets. In 2025, the bank ranked first in India’s equity offerings, reflecting the growing activity in the country’s fundraising market.
JPMorgan India’s senior country officer Rahul Badhwar said the bank sees opportunities across cross-border mergers and acquisitions, manufacturing, healthcare, consumer businesses, financial services, technology and the innovation economy.
He also noted that demand for strategic advice, financing and capital market services is increasing as Indian companies expand overseas and global companies increase their presence in India.
Global Banks Expand India Presence
JPMorgan is not the only global bank increasing its focus on India. Other major financial institutions, including Goldman Sachs and HSBC, have also been expanding their operations to tap into opportunities in areas such as mergers and acquisitions.
Sitharaman Pushes India as a Global Business Hub
Sitharaman has been encouraging global investors to establish manufacturing, technology and innovation centres in India. She has highlighted the country’s skilled workforce and business opportunities as factors that can help companies develop products and capabilities for global markets.
During her recent visit to Chicago, she also urged investors to look beyond India as simply a market and consider the country as a platform to build products and businesses for the world.
