Bengaluru is set to strengthen last-mile connectivity around its Metro network with mini air-conditioned buses planned for Metro stations across the city.
The initiative is aimed at making it easier for passengers to travel between Metro stations and nearby residential, commercial and other key areas. Better feeder services could help address one of the major challenges faced by Metro users — connectivity between stations and their final destinations.
The mini AC buses are expected to provide a more convenient and comfortable alternative for short-distance journeys. The move could also encourage more commuters to combine Metro and bus services for daily travel.
The plan comes as Bengaluru continues to expand its Metro network and add new corridors. The city’s Pink Line is also moving towards phased operations, with the 7.5-km Kalena Agrahara-Tavarekere stretch expected to open this month, subject to final clearances.
