The Aditya Birla Group has entered the wires and cables industry with the launch of Ultravolt, marking its fourth new business venture in the past three years after expanding into paints, jewellery and B2B e-commerce through Birla Pivot.

Backed by an investment of ₹1,800 crore, Ultravolt will start as the second-largest player in the wires segment by manufacturing capacity. The business, housed under UltraTech Cement Ltd, aims to establish a strong pan-India brand and become one of the country’s top two players within five years.
Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla said the wires and cables industry is set for significant growth, supported by India’s expanding urbanisation, electrification and digital infrastructure. The addition of more than 100 million homes over the next decade, rising energy infrastructure investments and the rapid expansion of data centres are expected to drive demand.
Ultravolt plans to build a nationwide distribution network, targeting more than one lakh retailers and availability through over 5,000 UltraTech Building Solutions outlets.
The company has established a new manufacturing facility at Jhagadia in Gujarat’s Bharuch district. Its initial product portfolio includes home wires, flexible wires and cables for residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure applications.
Ultravolt plans to broaden its portfolio over time by entering the electrical accessories segment as it expands its presence in the market.
