HMT Watches recorded an impressive single-day sales figure of more than ₹35 lakh in Bengaluru on Independence Day, as thousands of customers turned up to purchase its watches.

The strong response has highlighted the enduring appeal of the iconic Indian brand, particularly among younger consumers and watch enthusiasts. The sales included limited-edition and rare HMT watches, drawing significant interest from customers.
Union Heavy Industries and Steel Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy thanked the youth for their enthusiastic response, pointing to the renewed interest in HMT Watches as a positive sign for the brand.
The development comes as efforts continue to strengthen HMT’s operations and preserve the legacy of one of India’s best-known watch brands. HMT, established in Bengaluru in 1953, remains a Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Heavy Industries.
