Centum Electronics is set to invest ₹500 crore to establish a new aerospace and defence electronics manufacturing facility in Karnataka. The project will come up at the Hi-Tech Defence & Aerospace Park in Bengaluru, Karnataka Industries Minister MB Patil said.
Construction of the facility is expected to begin in September, with the project scheduled to be completed over the next four years.
1,500 Jobs Expected
The new facility is expected to create around 1,500 employment opportunities in Karnataka. It will focus on the production of advanced aerospace and defence electronics for high-end applications.
The plant is expected to manufacture technologies including radar systems and electronic warfare equipment, strengthening Karnataka’s growing aerospace and defence manufacturing ecosystem.
Investment Linked to Invest Karnataka Conclave
The announcement follows a meeting between MB Patil and Centum Electronics Joint Managing Director Nikhil Mallavarapu to review the progress of the company’s investment commitment made during the Invest Karnataka Conclave 2026.
The project is part of Karnataka’s broader efforts to convert investment commitments into major manufacturing projects and strengthen the state’s position as a hub for advanced technology industries.
Karnataka Steps Up Investment Push
The Centum Electronics announcement comes shortly after Cipla and Rocket India revealed expansion plans in Karnataka. Private equity major Blackstone has also expressed interest in investing in sectors including data centres, renewable energy and fibre-optic infrastructure during Karnataka’s investment roadshow in Mumbai.
Competition for Manufacturing Investments
Karnataka has stepped up domestic and international investor outreach as Indian states compete to attract large-scale manufacturing and technology investments.
Tamil Nadu remains a key competitor, actively targeting investments in electronics, electric vehicles and advanced manufacturing through policy incentives and direct engagement with investors.
The latest Centum Electronics project adds further momentum to Karnataka’s ambitions to strengthen its aerospace, defence and advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
