The Andhra Pradesh government has rolled out a comprehensive infrastructure transformation plan covering ports, aviation, roads and logistics, as it completes two years of targeted governance.

The strategy is being implemented through the Departments of Investments and Infrastructure and Roads and Buildings, guided by the AP Maritime Policy 2024–29 and the Aerospace and Defence Policy 2025. The state is leveraging its 1,053 km coastline along with inland transport networks to position itself as a key industrial gateway in India.

Officials said Andhra Pradesh has attracted nearly 25 per cent of India’s recent infrastructure investments.

Major port development projects underway

State officials, including Minister for Roads and Buildings, Infrastructure and Investments BC Janardhan Reddy and senior bureaucrats, highlighted ongoing progress in large-scale port development projects.

The Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board is overseeing the development of four major greenfield gateway ports designed to reduce logistics costs and strengthen trade infrastructure. These projects collectively represent an investment of around ₹14,000 crore.

Progress across key ports includes Ramayapatnam at 78.48 per cent completion, Mulapeta at 75.5 per cent, Machilipatnam at 57.78 per cent, and Kakinada Gateway Port at 41 per cent. Most of these projects are targeted for completion between December 2026 and March 2028.

In addition, four Phase-1 fishing harbours at Juvvaladinne, Uppada, Nizampatnam and Machilipatnam are nearing completion. Phase-2 harbour projects at Budigatlapalem, Pudimadaka and Kothapatnam are being supported with ₹690 crore in funding.

The state has also begun land acquisition for the 3,500-acre Duggarajapatnam Mega Shipbuilding Cluster, alongside the rollout of the AP LINK logistics corporation.

Aviation sector sees major expansion plans

Andhra Pradesh is also accelerating its aviation and aerospace ambitions with an investment pipeline of around ₹1 lakh crore, expected to generate nearly one lakh jobs.

The Bhogapuram International Airport, one of the flagship projects, is 99.35 per cent complete and is expected to begin operations in July 2026.

In addition, nine greenfield airports worth ₹6,416 crore are under development. The government has also completed detailed project reports for eight water aerodromes aimed at boosting regional connectivity and eco-tourism.

Strong national highway network supports growth

The state currently has a 8,360 km National Highway network, ranking among the highest in India in terms of highway density relative to population.

Officials said this extensive infrastructure base will further support Andhra Pradesh’s ambition to emerge as a leading logistics and industrial hub in the country.
